About the Project
Ready for a refresh, the Tennis Club’s Island Grill Cafe selected JMorton to design a plan to renovate their grounds. Integrating mature growth plant material with strategic upgrades to the hardscape and landscape brought new life to the facility.

The grand arrival is shaded by a large, old growth Banyan street tree, backed by Date Palms that line the entry drive and frame the porte cochere. Decorative pavers accentuate the club’s entrance and drop-off while subtly differentiating between vehicular and pedestrian areas. The tumbled limestone pavers for pedestrian areas are set at right angles to the building and are bordered by a beige soldier course.

The porte cochere utilizes the same tumbled limestone paver stones turned on a 45-degree angle with a beige solider course that creates a similar grid pattern. The landscape around the porte cochere mixes well with the site sourced coquina field stone. The shrub beds are filled with native and tropical plant selections possessing variegated and broad-leafed accent plants to provide year-round color and visual interest.
