Our team is involved in the full life of a project, from early site design through construction and ultimately the ribbon cutting allowing for a meaningful role in shaping projects from vision to realization.

While JMorton provides full‑service planning, this position is landscape‑architecture focused, with planning serving as a complementary component.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture
- Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture
Technical & Professional Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Land FX
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop (ability to quickly adjust graphics and visuals)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Excel (basic table handling and data accuracy required)
- Strong understanding of planting design, including plant selection, layout, and documentation
- Working knowledge of Florida‑native and Florida‑friendly plant materials
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, including planting, irrigation, grading, and civil plans
- Experience producing 2D and 3D visualizations
- Experience preparing code‑minimum planting plans
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with municipal landscape codes and regulations (awareness and ability to read code requirements; full proficiency not required)
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Creative problem‑solving and design‑thinking abilities
- Experience coordinating with municipalities, reviewing agencies, consultants, contractors, and selecting project teams
Physical & Work Requirements

- Candidate must be willing to attend site visits as needed, which may require walking on uneven or undeveloped surfaces

JMorton Planning & Landscape Architecture is seeking a motivated and experienced Land Planner / Project Manager to join our collaborative and fast-paced team.
This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys managing complex projects, working with clients and government agencies, and contributing to meaningful projects throughout Palm Beach County and surrounding areas.
At JMorton, we combine small-firm personal attention with large-firm capabilities, providing strategic land planning, zoning expertise, and thoughtful design solutions for both public and private sector clients.
Position Overview
The Land Planner / Project Manager participates in all aspects of the entitlement and development review process while maintaining project schedules, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with both municipal/public sector clients and private developer clients, including navigating municipal review processes and presenting projects before public officials, elected officials, review boards, and neighborhood groups.
This role requires strong technical writing, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Research land development regulations, comprehensive plans, and zoning codes
- Prepare applications for various land use and development approvals
- Write and edit technical reports, including: Justification Statements, Comprehensive Plan Amendments, Text Amendments, Due diligence and zoning analysis reports
- Coordinate and manage project schedules and deadlines
- Develop presentation materials for: Public hearings, Neighborhood meetings and Client presentations.
- Attend morning and/or evening meetings with: Clients, County and municipal staff, Consultants and Project teams
- Coordinate municipal review comments and approval processes
- Work with both public sector and private development clients
- Ensure plans and documents meet applicable land use and zoning requirements
- Assist with presentations and representation before public officials, elected officials, and review boards
- Maintain organized project files, schedules, meeting notes, and communication records
- Participate in company events and ongoing professional development
- Identify and proactively address comments or outstanding obstacles to maintain project schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning or related field
- Approximately 3–6 years of planning experience working under a Project Manager, Director, or similar leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret land development regulations and zoning codes
- Experience with entitlement and municipal review processes
- Familiarity with Palm Beach County and surrounding municipalities preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop and/or Bluebeam experience is a plus
