Jennifer Morton, PLA, LEED AP
President

Jennifer brings expertise in land planning, landscape architecture, entitlements and project management to clients in The Palm Beaches, the Treasure Coast and across Florida. She has extensive experience working with residential and commercial developers and is well-versed in local regulations and ordinances. The result is timely processing of plans and applications, ultimately saving clients time and money. 

Jennifer’s experience with zoning and site planning encompasses a wide range of projects including large-scale mixed-use developments, planned unit developments, neighborhood commercial centers, hotels, schools, churches, synagogues and overall institutional campuses. 

As a Landscape Architect, Jennifer takes a special interest in the planning and design of outdoor spaces. Excellence and attention to detail are distinguishing features of her work. This philosophy has earned her the finest reputation among General Managers and Chief Operating Officers within the country club community. Jennifer has worked on many notable clubs including Addison Reserve, Frenchman’s Creek, Broken Sound, Riviera, Ocean Reef and others.

Jennifer founded JMorton Planning & Landscape Architecture in 2014, following a successful 22-year career as a Shareholder and Managing Partner with a prominent land planning firm. She helped the firm grow from a single office and seven employees to three Florida offices and 66 employees. 

Jennifer believes strongly in giving back to the community through the firm and on a personal level. She is active in the community, serving on several business and non-profit boards. She is particularly passionate about her charitable endeavors, which include Hannah’s Home and Habitat for Humanity Palm Beach County.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia.


Lauren McClellan
Director of Planning

Lauren joined JMorton in 2015 after 13 years in public and private sector professional planning in South Florida. Her specific expertise includes land use and zoning processes, zoning code and land use amendments, entitlements, site plan review and project management.

Lauren’s professional focus is creating communities through orderly, responsible development. Her project management and planning knowledge align to provide a thorough understanding of municipal codes, comprehensive plans, development applications and processes. She coordinates with clients to determine the development potential, appropriate application process, and projected timeline for obtaining entitlements for their projects. Lauren leads the design team and ensures that projects proceed effectively and efficiently through the land entitlement process.

Lauren is active in the Palm Beach County Development Review Advisory Committee, Palm Beach North Chamber Government Affairs Committee and Leadership Palm Beach County. She serves on the Village of Royal Palm Beach Planning and Zoning Commission/Local Planning Agency. She also dedicates her time to Habitat for Humanity by leading a team for the annual Women Build Event and sitting on the Development Committee.

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public & Urban Affairs from Virginia Tech and a Master of Urban & Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University.


Michelle Duchene, PLA, ASLA
Director of Landscape Architecture and Design

Michelle joined JMorton Planning and Landscape Architecture in 2022.  After graduating with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois in 2005, Michelle relocated to South Florida where she has had an opportunity to design and manage a wide range of projects from high end residential and elite equestrian estates to commercial, industrial, multi-family, and public sector work, such as Palm Beach County Public Schools and Parks.

Utilizing her extensive Florida plant material knowledge, and applying real-world installation and maintenance experience, she strives to provide clients with the best possible plant choices for the site with both aesthetes and longevity in mind.   By balancing the concepts of environmental stewardship and developer-driven progress, while applying the applicable land development code, Michelle provides comprehensive landscape architecture services to the client during the development process, from concepts to installation and long-term maintenance.

Beyond environmental analysis and planting plan design, Michelle brings a strong background in construction, providing detailed construction drawings for all aspects of the outdoor hardscape including pavers, entry gates, pools, fountains, pergolas, outdoor kitchens, decorative and retaining walls, landscape lighting, and more. She is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and continually strives to expand her knowledge by participating in educational programs and networking events as well as attending state conferences.


Hays Henderson, PLA, ASLA
Project Manager

Hays joined the JMorton team in 2015. His specialization in both planting and hardscape design is complemented by his strengths in graphic design and construction administration. Hays’ project experience ranges from single and multi-family residential development, country clubs, retail commercial projects, streetscapes and highway beautification for FDOT and international projects in Egypt and the Caribbean.

Along with his talent for selecting plant material suitable to the site and the project aesthetic, Hays is an expert at site assessment regarding elements such as existing vegetation, topography and soil classification that inform how best to integrate proposed improvements with existing conditions. His ability to provide effective design solutions as projects progress and client needs evolve enables him to deliver successful outcomes regardless of the challenge. 

As a full member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Hays continually pushes himself to exemplify the profession. He strongly believes in appropriate design for each space and fosters a sense of mentorship to share his experience to those coming up in the profession. 

Hays holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Florida.


Maryori Velasco
Project Manager

Maryori joined the JMorton team in 2021. Her primary focus is JMorton’s Government Services Division.  Maryori’s background is in civil engineering, previously working as a Site Engineer.

When not at work, you can find Maryori traveling, hiking, or mountain biking. She loves watching soccer and spending time with her dog, Onix.

Maryori received her Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Florida International University of Engineering.


Kinsey Bullock
Senior Landscape Designer

Kinsey began her career at JMorton as an intern in the summer of 2018. Following graduation in 2019, she returned to JMorton as a Landscape Designer. While her Landscape Architecture career is just beginning, Kinsey is already playing a key role on several projects. She assists Project Managers in construction documentation, material and plant specifications, design development, and creating rendered graphics for presentations.  Kinsey approaches each project as a new challenge and enjoys the creative, problem solving process involved in landscape architecture and site planning.  

While in school, Kinsey worked as a graphic designer for several companies including The UPS Store, Supercuts and Blue Otter Sunglasses and several start-up businesses. Now, she spearheads JMorton’s social media efforts.

In her free time, Kinsey enjoys spending time at the beach, gardening and volunteering. Most weekends you can find her participating in beach clean-ups and teaching children’s Sunday School classes.

Kinsey graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture.


Alex Ahrenholz
Project Manager

Alex joined JMorton Planning and Landscape Architecture in 2023 after working in the public and private sectors within northern Palm Beach County. Growing up in Jupiter, he offers some local knowledge and takes pride in being part of the area’s development. He is involved in the Palm Beach Planning Congress and Treasure Coast chapter of the American Planning Association.

He graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Sustainable Development in 2014 and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning in 2017. In 2019, he became a certified planner from the American Institute of Certified Planners and continues to education himself on current planning practices and concepts that can be used by our clients.

Outside of work he enjoys the outdoors – biking, camping, kayaking, hiking. He wants to someday visit every national park in the United States.


June Gorman
Marketing

June relocated from Overland Park, Kansas in 2013, fulfilling her lifelong dream to live at the beach. Before joining JMorton, June was Senior Production Manager for Applebee’s, where she was responsible for menu production and printing for Applebee’s restaurants nationwide. Prior to 9 years there, June worked in outdoor power manufacturing and parts distribution, where she was responsible for catalog design and print production, website content and e-commerce, direct mail campaigns and trade shows. 

June joined JMorton in March 2020.  Her responsibilities include RFPs, special marketing projects and the JMorton website.

June has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Kansas – Rock Chalk!
